Posting this here too so more can see it. I left slack/discord a while ago due to various personal reasons that I will not discuss here. I now regret doing that but for slack my account is now disabled (by me) so I can't rejoin. So could someone who is there tell an admin? Also, I'd like to rejoin discord but I need the invite link to do so. My slack account is Rem (i think) or zyzzyzus. Thanks

  • Apparently the tories broke the law (again) during the election.
First they used a list called 'the telephone preference service' where it is illegal to cold call anyone on that list except for legitimate research. They then broke another law by calling people and trying to get them to vote for a specific candidate.

The election before they broke expenses laws by claiming the expenses were part of the national campaign rather than the local one and if it was declared as local, it'd have been above the maximum allowed legally.

Still as corrupt as ever then...
They will get away with it though and at worst one or 2 candidates will be charged. But more likely, they will make out it wasn't anything to do with them.

All politicians are corrupt. But the tories are far worse than others.

Oh yeah, the company they used was directed to use a false name and make out it was for research.
'Do you know that if the tories lose 6 seats you will end up with Corbyn as PM'. Hardly impartial research...

For anyone that doesn't know, Theresa May's nickname is Maybot due to her robotic mantras and her distinct lack of empathy making her look robotic.

  • The unofficial name for the 'coalition' (it isn't actually one but more an agreement) for the UK government is,
    Conservative Unionist Negotiating Team

  • The UK election has resulted in a hung parliament after a colossal fuck up by May.
To stay in power, she is doing a deal with the DUP, a homophobic, anti-abortion, climate change denying, creationist party that originated from the church (Which is obvious at this point). Not to mention they are a N. Ireland party that are staunchly unionist and by doing a deal with them, May is risking harm to the peace process in N. Ireland.
Nobody in the rest of the UK voted for these bigots yet their mere 10 seats will equal enough sway. If May doesn't do as they say, she will be voted out of office and there will be yet another election which nobody wants.

I won £30 though from this. That is 2 from 2 for me now. :p

When the election was called, the Tories had double the vote share of Labour and were expected to have a majority well over 100. How did she go from that to a hung parliament? She proposed policies that negatively affected her core vote. (pensioners)
  • There's something bad going on in London right now. Reports of a van being driven at people, gunshots and people being stabbed. It hasn't been reported yet what the cause is.

@silentsomersault Do I need to point out that he did not mention Islams at all in this post, or can you re-read the post and come up with that yourself?

It was inspired by Islam. It is becoming a common event.
More bombing in the middle east will make it even worse
  • The greatest rock singer has died. :'(
He was my favourite singer and Audioslave were a big part of my teenage years. I liked some Soundgarden songs but always preferred Audioslave. That leaves just 1 of the 4 great grunge singers now (Eddie Vedder). They are saying it may be suicide which means 2 were suicide and 1 a drug OD.

Now it has been updated to say it was suicide. He had a wife and children...
I know he always had struggles and drug addictions from a young age but still...

While I'm not personally a huge fan of his singing, I respect his work and found it really sad to hear of this... I'll be listening to a lot of his songs in the next few days.
My sympathies to his fans (I know at least one other guy who loves Audioslave). :(

I don't normally get this affected when it is a celebrity since I don't personally know them. I'm listening to his solo work now and damn...
I'd not really listened to much of his music for a long time and had moved on to other stuff. Audioslave's first album was the best and all my favourite tracks are from that.

I never liked Audioslave, but the 2nd SG album was fucking great. There were one or two good songs on the 3rd album too, but I never listened to them after that because I got into the California punk stuff instead. Saw them live in 93. The only person in commercial music in the 90s I could honestly say was more talented was Jeff Buckley. He and Cornell were on another level compared to the rest. Cornell even produced some of Buckley's stuff after his suicide (they were close friends apparently). Cornell's suicide comes exactly 20 years after Buckley's (almost to the day). RIP Chris :(
