It's that night, when the ghouls spawn. I walk through the busy streets, where many feet and scary feats happen to and fro. With some pride in my disguise, I lay low -hiding from the beast- by walking among the undead and their lich master. But alas, I am recognized! As swift as a tiger, but with the grace of a drunkard, I run! From night 'til morn, to evade its sight 'til the sun is reborn. I manage to escape from the beast. I find asylum in the shack of a kind stranger; 'til the song of the cock can heard. To shorten the time of wait -or at least to make it seem shorter- my host and I discuss of trivialities and stories we heard from long ago. Despite his scarce possession, the man is no pauper in wisdom and words. For now, the night goes on. But as I decide to take my leave, I suddenly fall asleep, my energies completely dry. In my dreams, I hear a coarse, almost animal voice, "You are an odd one; from night 'til morn, I chase you. Every night of the dead's plight, when I am at my strongest. But you always avoid and evade me. All this time, all I had to do, was to wait for you." As one ends, another begin; I see visions of the future, scenes of hope and some of despair, but there's this recurring dream where I picture myself vanquishing my mortal foe and telling myself to have no reason to fear... I awake to the chant of the cock and the smell of stew. But I cannot get up, for I have no more limbs! I spy outside, through the entrance of the shack, it's the beast...

  • Alone in the universe, we dwell under the covers of galactic ignorance, forever lonely, mankind's dreams of extraterrestrials are an uncertain flicker of hope, but the truth is, man is the alien and we're the firsts out there looking for nobody in particular and nobody's looking for us. If somebody's out here, he's unaware and maybe much lonelier than man.
