Slight change to Sweet! probability

dparejadpareja Posts: 460Member ✭✭✭
So sugar lumps are pretty valuable, we know that. But there are two heavenly upgrades--Stevia caelestis and Sugar aging process--that make them ripen sooner, consequently slightly decreasing their value.

I would suggest that the probability of the Sweet! result from Golden and Wrath cookies be increased slightly to account for this, multiplying the threshold by 86400/T, where T is the number of seconds required for a sugar lump to mature, ripen, and drop naturally. For instance, if you have both of the aforementioned upgrades and 600 Grandmas, this would amount to multiplying the threshold by 86400/79200, or 12/11.

Why do they decrease in value by ripening sooner? That's like saying money is worth less if you have a lot of it.

Not quite. The time investment represented by one sugar lump decreases.

Investment is a cost. It's not the value. In accounting terms, it's a liability, not an asset.
They don't become less valuable because they become more readily available.

I misworded things slightly, I think. It's not the value of a sugar lump that goes down, it's the value of the Sweet! result.

No, the value of the Sweet! doesn't go down either. Its value is still one sugar lump that you didn't have before. The sugar lump is still just as valuable as all the ones that came before it. It will do all the same things. Getting it for free doesn't change that, nor does how long it would take you to get it normally.

"Time" has very little direct value in the game, and the value of Sweet! is time (just like Omelet. Its value is time also).

Now, if Sweet! finished off the sugar lump you have growing, so a new one could start, then its value would decrease very slightly the more buffs you had operating that also shorten the time to harvest, but its value would also decrease more sharply the closer the sugar lump you have growing is to harvest. If it's brand new, Sweet is worth between 24 and 22 hours. If it's twenty minutes from being harvestible, the value of Sweet! is 20 minutes.
