I'm at the point where I have researched everything it will let me and have about 3 centuries in fast ticks. I was going to skip ahead but I don't have enough housing for the next three centuries. The should be a construction worker research that automatically builds houses as needed

There is? Architects do that. I don't know if they would do this fast enough for a very big population, but that's what they are for.
