The + means (I think) how many numbers that number contain(sry for bad english). Your amount of cookies is so big that the game decides that this number is too big to be fully written, let's make it shorter. It is not really a bug, you just don't want a 50 numbers big number. But just read how much it says after the + and you will know how many number it is pretty much

    2.9e+21 = 2900000000000000000000
    It's called scientific notation.

    It's called scientific notation.

... and far easier to understand, in my opinion, than septillion, quintillion, quinquidecillion, multiumptillion etc. Moreover you can cut and paste it directly into a spreadsheet, because it's the same notation used by spreadsheets and other software to represent large numbers. the 'e' stands for "exponent". In Billabo's example the exponent is 25; the number is 2.9 time 10 raised to the power 25. The '+' is there because you can also have negative exponents, eg

    2.9e-25 is 0.00000000000000000000000029
